License Manager#
The License Manager lets you create reusable license records and attach them to icons and collections, so you always know what attribution a given icon requires.
Opening the License Manager#
Choose File → License Manager from the menu bar.
Creating a License#
- Click the + button in the License Manager toolbar.
- A new “New License” entry appears in the list and is selected automatically.
- Fill in the fields in the editor on the right:
| Field | Description |
|---|---|
| Name | Short identifier, e.g. “MIT”, “CC BY 4.0”, “Custom Commercial” |
| URL | Link to the full license text. Click the arrow to open in browser. |
| Description | Any notes — attribution requirements, restrictions, contact info, etc. |
Changes save automatically.
Assigning a License to an Icon#
- Select an icon in the grid.
- In the inspector panel, find the License section.
- Choose a license from the picker. Select None to remove an assignment.
Assigning a License to a Collection#
- Select a collection in the sidebar.
- In the collection inspector, find the License section.
- Choose a license from the picker.
You can also click Apply to All Icons to push the collection’s license down to every icon in the collection at once. Icons that already have a license will have it replaced.
Deleting a License#
Select a license in the list and click the − button. Deleting a license clears its assignment from any icons or collections that referenced it — it does not delete the icons themselves.
Tips#
- Create one license record per license type and reuse it across collections. This way, if a license URL or description needs updating, you change it once.
- Use the description field to store the specific attribution line you need to include when publishing work that uses the icons.
